How we operate and the standards we hold ourselves and our learners to, across our centres in Lagos and Accra.
These policies and procedures set out how the Building & Construction Training Institute (BCTI) operates and the standards of excellence, safety, and accountability we uphold. They apply to all staff, trainees, visiting instructors, and employer partners across our centres in Lekki, Lagos and Labone, Accra.
We are dedicated to fostering a supportive, inclusive learning environment free from bias, harassment, and unlawful discrimination. Training opportunities, apprenticeships, and placements are accessible to anyone meeting basic programme requirements, regardless of gender, background, religion, or disability.
The safety and wellbeing of our learners is paramount. BCTI maintains strict safeguarding measures to protect all individuals—particularly young apprentices and vulnerable adults—from harm, exploitation, or abuse. Staff are trained to identify welfare concerns and report them swiftly to our designated safeguarding leads.
Construction workshops and live job sites involve practical machinery and materials. We enforce stringent risk-assessment protocols, require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in training bays, and mandate immediate reporting of equipment defects, hazards, or incidents to maintain a zero-harm environment.
We manage student, applicant, and partner data securely and transparently, adhering to relevant data-privacy regulations in Nigeria and Ghana. Records are retained only for as long as necessary to deliver courses, issue certifications, and monitor career outcomes. You have the right to request access to or correction of your personal data at any time.
Learners and staff must maintain professional, courteous, and safe conduct throughout their time at BCTI and on employer site placements. Disruptive behaviour, substance abuse, violence, or deliberate tool misuse will result in formal disciplinary action, up to and including immediate dismissal without refund.
Consistent workshop attendance and timely arrival are essential to mastering trade skills and qualifying for industry certifications. Learners must notify instructors ahead of time if an emergency prevents attendance. Chronic absenteeism may lead to disqualification from final assessments.
We provide an open, fair procedure for handling complaints or appealing assessment decisions. If you have an unresolved grievance, you can submit written details to our management team. All complaints are investigated objectively and resolved within clear, published timelines.
Practical and theoretical assessments are scored consistently against verified industry awarding criteria. Academic or practical malpractice—such as falsifying portfolios, proxy attendance, or safety violations during exams—will result in immediate disqualification of submitted work.
Where training bootcamps or apprenticeships are fully or partially subsidised by government bodies or philanthropic funds, strict eligibility terms apply. We verify candidate criteria prior to admission and manage all sponsor resources responsibly.
Our executive board and quality assurance teams review these policies annually to incorporate regulatory updates, employer feedback, and best pedagogical practices. Changes will be posted directly to this page.
